Doctoral studies at the KSMA, as one of training forms for high-qualified scientific and scientific pedagogical staff, have government license with the right on educational activity. The Department has a well-trained and high-qualified scientific and pedagogical staff, modern scientific, research and experimental basis. This department also takes an active part in elaboration and realization of national, governmental and international scientific and technical programs and project.
To doctoral studies are admitted citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic with PhD, who have scientific achievements in appropriate field and able to conduct fundamental and applied researches on a high level in accordance with acting nomenclature of scientific collaborates specialties.
Citizens of foreign countries are admitted to doctoral studies of the KSMA on the basis of international agreements with foreign organizations and higher educational establishments. Training is conducted on the full time form of studying. The term of training is not over 3 years.
Documents necessary for admission to the doctoral studies:
  • Copy of PhD diploma (for those who have got education abroad - copy of diploma of appropriate scientific degree and copies of certificates on examinations in appropriate fields, philosophy and foreign languages)
  • Developed plan of doctoral dissertation
  • List of published scientific works, researches and reports
  • Passport and diploma on scientific degree of PhD presented personally on admission to the doctoral studies.
    The KSMA is the oldest and the strongest training and research centre of the Kyrgyz Republic in medicine that follows its outstanding traditions of research. For many decades a school for research under the KSM has gained its scientific footing with activities accomplished to achieve outstanding results in development of fundamental and applied research in medicine. This is the level of research and training of professionals in science that determine the quality of academic education and high standing of the Academy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
    Scientific and research work is the most principal and integral component of medical academy's performance and the basis for the development of its intellectual and staff potential.
    At present KSMA's research and training staff potential includes 5 academicians of the Kyrgyz Republic's National Academy of Science (NAS), 3 NAS member-correspondent, 6 laureates of the State Reward for science and technology, 7 honorable research officers of the Kyrgyz Republic, 63 Doctors of Science and 263 PhD professionals in leading medical, biological and other specialties. Six KSMA scientists are members of the Kyrgyz republic's National Attestation Commission. Many professors have awarded membership of academies in CIS and other foreign countries.
    Research activities are coordinated by the KSMA's Council of Science, which reviews and approves priorities in fundamental and makes recommendations to enhance the role of science in training and treatment, makes suggestions and does forecasts for training of researches for the whole country as related to basic areas of medical science. Coordination and methodical activities as to research works are properly carried out by the KSMA's Centre for Science, which comprises the following departments and their subdivisions:

    Preparatory course

     
    Preparatory department for foreign citizens functions for 10 years. Primary goals of this division are: to teach Russian and major subjects - biology and chemistry. Curricula, methodical manuals on Russian are based on texts in biology, anatomy, physiology and histology. That makes it possible to gain Russian language skills, while simultaneously studying Russian medical terminology. So this preliminary instruction paves the way to the further training in one of institutes of the KSMA or in other medical higher educational institutions is carried out.
    Groups are formed in process of arrival of foreign citizens. Number of students in one group is 4-5 people, which provides optimum conditions for individual work of the teacher with the student.
    Upon graduation from the Preparatory Department students take examination and get certificates, which serve as guarantees of admission to one of KSMA's institutes, chosen by students. Training at the Preparatory Department is an earnest of further successful study in the KSMA and other higher educational institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic. Training is conducted on a contractual basis.
    The aim of Preparatory Courses at Institute of Pedagogic of the KSMA is to improve the level of general training of youth for the further admission to Medical higher educational institutions of Kyrgyzstan.
    Educational process involves major subjects chosen for examinations of admission to the KSMA: biology, chemistry, the Russian and Kyrgyz languages.
    Preparatory courses offer the daytime form of training for people with full secondary education (9 months) and the evening form of training for people with incomplete secondary education (6 months).
    Educational process is based on a school - high school pattern of teaching. For this purpose lectures, practical activities, colloquiums, control and laboratory researches, offsets and examinations are provided.
    Curricula are developed on profile faculties of the KSMA according to tests of the National Testing Centre. For the effective organization of educational process the КSМА provides students of Preparatory Courses lecture with halls, computer studies, the Museum of human anatomy, and profile departments rendering methodical help in realization and the organization of practical and laboratory researches.
